Dark Films

August 19, 2016 By Area Magazine Leave a Comment

Ever wondered who are the people behind the music videos and commercials? Area Magazine caught up with Dark Films of Houma, LA. Preston and Derek Dark are twin brothers who have been shooting videos for a little over three years. Their journey began while attending college in Monroe, LA when a friend, Silas, needed someone to shoot his music video. Preston and Derek became very interested and decided to purchase their first camera with their last monies. As a start of a new beginning, The Dark Brothers shot their first professional video with a rapper named Arsenal from Newark, New Jersey, and it was a huge success. Local artists saw the video and were extremely pleased with the creativity and originality of the Dark Brothers’ video that they hired them to render services. The Dark Brothers later returned to Houma, LA and captured the attention of local artists in the tri-parish as well as surrounding areas. They have been very successful with their productions and later patented the name Dark Films.

Dark Films became successful very quickly, and some of the hottest artists craved the brother’s creativity. Some artists that Dark Films has worked with includes Lil Snupe, Sess 45, Hurricane Chris, Ying Yang Twins, Foxx (Trill Ent), Killa Kyleon, and many more. Business for Dark Films includes, but not limited to the 985 and 504 area. They have rendered services throughout the state of Louisiana. They have expanded their filming in other areas including Dallas, TX, Jackson, MS, Houston, TX, Atlanta, GA., and Arkansas.

Area Magazine asked Dark Films what they enjoy most about filming. Their response: “It’s the final product. Most importantly, it’s the response and appreciation from the artists.”
