With Summer and summer fashions here, skin dry and cracked from winter is going to be on display daily. Winter clothes and the lack of humidity can wreck havoc on skin and hair, making it dull and lifeless. With the weather and most fashion demanding smooth, silky skin—Area is here to make sure you are ready!
EXFOLIATE
The first step to exfoliate dry skin away. All the moisturizing in the world won’t help if you have dry, scaly skin—most of the product will not soak in. Try a simple recipe of salt and coconut oil. Step into a warm-almost hot-bath and let the water soften. Then use the exfoliant making sure to spend extra time on your knees, elbows and hands. If necessary, use a pumice stone on those problem areas to make sure you shine!
If you want to step it up a notch, treat yourself to a spa treatment where someone else can do the work.
Moisturize
After exfoliating the dead skin cells away, rinse off from head-to-toe. While skin is still wet, use a natural oil, such as coconut or argan or olive oil, and rub into skin before drying off. After drying, use a lightweight lotion only where needed. With the extreme heat and humidity down here, over moisturizing leads to sweating—not a good look. Be sure to use a good SPF, especially on your face and shoulders which often bear the brunt of the hot summer sun.
Tanning
With the heat we have down here most tanning happens when we’re not even trying to—during the summer months, you can get a tan on a quick walk to the store. Our major challenge down here is wearing enough sun protection. I’m really starting to be in favor of bringing back parasols.
Baring that: what we can do is wear sunglasses, lotions with at least SPF 15. If that doesn’t give you the color you’re looking for try Jergens Natural Glow Moisturizer. It gives even color that starts within a few days and can be used to even skin color out.
